The Parking Consultancy (TPC) comprises of a number of highly specialised consultants with over 40 years combined experience in the car parking, environmental and sustainable travel field. With our in-depth knowledge and experience of managing large scale site redevelopments and capital projects, we can help manage and investigate major issues in your car parking arena, whether it be planning, process, redesign, financial or technology, we are here to help. TPC are currently working with a number of NHS Trusts, universities and public sector entities up and down the country, all facing similar issues to yours.
TPC is vendor and supplier agnostic and as such offers you impartial, independent expertise and advise, without constraint. Now to the latest government announcement that states:
From April, all 206 hospital trusts in England will be expected to provide free car parking to groups that may be frequent hospital visitors, or those disproportionately impacted by daily or hourly charges for parking, including:

Disabled people

Holders of blue badges while attending hospitals for treatment, to visit patients or when working there.

Frequent outpatient attenders

A person who is identified in advance as visiting as an outpatient for 3 or more times in a month.

Parents of sick children staying overnight

A parent or guardian of a child in hospital overnight can park for free between the hours of 1900 and 0700. This would apply to a maximum of two vehicles.

Staff working night shifts

All staff of the Trust working night shifts can park for free between the hours of 1930 and 0830. A ‘night shift’ in this context must include working until at least midnight.

As a member of the British Parking Association and elected member of the BPA’s Council we have access to the latest information on these changes that are proposed by government. On the 13th January 2020, BPA representatives attended the first wave of meetings of the Department of Health and Social Care's Hospital Car Parking Program Board, to support the development of their proposals.
TPC are primed and ready to assist you and your trust in understanding these changes, managing and implementation of these changes including the appraisal and adoption of new technologies, assessing net effect of these changes and where possible defining processes and solutions to effectively manage these changes. Furthermore, we can assist you beyond this by also looking at your current and future needs, including transport and sustainability reviews, planning and management.
